About the Artist

I have been making art since before I lost my first tooth. It explains a lot about my life choices. I earned my degree from California State University, Fresno, where I experimented with everything art. Including glass blowing, painting, ceramics, printmaking, figure drawing, photography, drafting, and even a smidgen of computer graphics before settling into my forever favorites. Which are drawing with colored pencils and sculpting tiny personalities out of polymer clay.

I've illustrated five children's books,. None famous. All deeply important. Worth the mention.

My work lives under the name Stitch of Red, which come from the signature button eye stitched on with red thread that just about every character receives. Why?! Not really sure. It just felt right. I like giving human traits to non-human things, turning ordinary objects into soft little souls that look like they might blink when you leave the room. Everything deserves a face. Everything deserves a tiny pulse of personality.

I'll keep making art whether it sells or not. The starving artist life builds character. But for the money making I am a full time salon owner and manicurist. All aspects of my life include art!!
